Rotacismo no “Boosco Deleitoso”: (des?)caminhos para sua datação

The work “Boosco Deleitoso” presents several challenges for scholars of the so-called “archaic” period of the Portuguese language. The most apparent is the dating of its writing. When comparing the year of its printing, 1515, with the linguistic marks of the text, several authors, such as Vasconcelos (1956) and Caravalho (2002) point out the “Boosco Deleitoso” as belonging to a much earlier linguistic period. In the open, there is a more precise dating than the end of the 14th century or the beginning of the 15th, as both authors propose. In this article, we chose the phenomenon of rotacism to seek more information about the time of its writing. As will be seen, the high incidence rates of this phenomenon in the “Boosco Deleitoso” provide important information when compared with those obtained in works such as “A Visão de Túndalo” and “Orto do Esposo”. To do so, we will use a semi-diplomatic edition that we have carried out and will be openly available to the academic community. The opposition between what we found in the work in focus, on the one hand, and in the two compared, on the other, allows us to draw more precise timelines about when the “Boosco Deleitoso” was probably not written. Qualitative analyzes of the rotacism rates raise doubts about the process of composition of the printed version, indicating (mis)paths for a more adequate understanding of a more precise dating of the “Boosco Deleitoso” when considering other linguistic phenomena as parameters.A obra “Boosco Deleitoso” apresenta diversos desafios para estudiosos do período dito “arcaico” da língua portuguesa. O mais aparente é o da datação de sua escrita. Quando se compara o ano de sua impressão, 1515, com as marcas linguísticas do texto, diversos autores, como Vasconcelos (1956) e Carvalho (2002) assinalam o “Boosco Deleitoso” como pertencentes a um período linguístico muito anterior. Em aberto se encontra uma datação mais precisa do que o final do século XIV ou começo do XV, como ambos autores encaminham. Neste artigo, escolhemos o fenômeno do rotacismo para procurar obter mais informações a respeito da época de sua escrita. Conforme será visto, as altas taxas de incidência desse fenômeno no “Boosco Deleitoso” trazem informações importantes quando são comparadas com as obtidas em obras como “A visão de Túndalo” e o “Orto do Esposo”. Para tanto, utilizaremos uma edição semidiplomática que realizamos e estará disponível de modo aberto para a comunidade acadêmica. A oposição entre o que encontramos na obra em foco, por um lado, e nas duas comparadas, por outro, permite traçar linhas temporais mais precisas sobre quando provavelmente o “Boosco Deleitoso” não foi escrito. Análises qualitativas das taxas de rotacismo levantam dúvidas sobre o processo de composição da versão impressa, indicando (des)caminhos para uma compreensão mais adequada sobre uma datação mais precisa do “Boosco Deleitoso” quando se consideram outros fenômenos linguísticos como parâmetros
